Forehead antenna

I learned this trick from TV. It is kind of silly but it works.

Ever wanna lock your car but you are too far from it that your car key doesn't work? You may try sticking the key to your forehead, your body will act as an antenna to enhance the transmission. Silly huh?

An Apple today

skyrockets my web page.

I normally avoid publicity, but it is doesn't hurt to have a bit to promote my work as some people may find it useful.

IT weirdo rescues bamboo stars. I can't stop laughing...

I know, what goes up, must come down.

Thanks Norman from Appledaily for the article. :)

Pankun and James

I like that Japanese chimp and bulldog(Pankun and James) TV show a lot. I wish Koala is as smart as Pankun so instead of being a bomberman, he can buy me meals and clean up my place, .

To fulfill my dream a bit, I bought Koala denim bib overalls as Pankun usually wears that in the show.

Make a search on YouTube if you have never watched Pankun and James, they are hilarious.

Cantonese Input

You may wonder why this website is in English as I am 100% pure Hong Konger/Chinese(don't be fooled by my last name, my grandpa translated that). Obviously, it isn't because my English is good, nor my Chinese is bad. In fact, both my English and Chinese suck. The main reason is... I can't really type Chinese, or as fast. The only Chinese input method I use is Cantonese input as my Chinglish is fine. Most Hong Kong people can understand "nei ho ma" is the Chinese/Cantonese equivalent of "你好嗎".

I found many people (at least some of my friends) either can only type with Cantonese or cannot even type Chinese at all, pretty handicapped. Fine, at least Cantonese input is a way to go for Hong Kong people. But the bad thing is... Cantonese input isn't a standard feature in Windows nor it is in MacOS. So those people just simply give up typing Chinese. What can you do if the computer at internet cafe doesn't have Cantonese input installed? You can just sit and cannot search the thing you want. Pretty sad.

Due of these reasons, I spent some time and developed the Online Cantonese Input Method 網上廣東話輸入法. I am not sure whether I am the first, but I couldn't find anything similar. I hope it can benefit those people a bit.

It should be pretty straightforward to use and it contains most Chinese characters. It works on my Mac and Windows, IE, Firefox and Safari. If you have an iPhone, please test it out for me as iPhone doesn't have Chinese input.

It's free! Don't complain.

PVC Speakers

Originally, I wanted to design a speaker that looks like a cello or violin.

As the concept further developed, it became a series of speakers made out of PVC pipes. They look industrial and fun. Give me some credits if you make them happen. And please don't blame me if they sound like drainage.

It should be a very good weekend DIY project. They should look great if you spray paint them into super glossy bright colours.

OUCH!

I am not a maniac, I just want her to do some exercises, fencing in particular. I don't win all the time, Blue Zorro is really good at it.

It doesn't really hurt, OUCH!

Hairpin turn

Usually, no one makes a u-turn here, people either go uphill or downhill.

I was intrigued by the skid marks left at the roundabout this morning. Such peaceful roundabout turned into a hairpin turn for racing at late night. Those Ferraris must have changed their racetrack after that big accident week ago.

Japanese style

My Japanese friend Yama asked me to design a logo and advertisement for his new violin shop, he wanted something a mixture of Chinese and Japanese. He illustrated his idea on a piece of paper.

I watch a lot of the TV program Miami Ink, it is about the happenings in a tattoo shop. I enjoyed the show a lot, those tattoo artists can design tattoos in a great variety of styles. I will go to their shop for sure if I want a tattoo.

I won't deliver things that I am not completely happy with, even for free. So at the end, even people don't get something great, I can guarantee they won't get something bad... at the very least. So this time, I need to design in Japanese/Chinese style. With minimal instructions, I finally settled with this design. A double bass in form of Chinese or Japanese paintings which also resembles Japanese waves.

My friend is happy and I am glad that not even one thing is being altered.

I don't wanna label myself as a designer, I just like creating different things from time to time.

Fine dining

It is hard to find a girl who doesnt like fine dining in Hong Kong... Nothing wrong of course, I like Lamborghinis also. However, I think I can plot a graph with prettiness (assessed by themselves) and money spent per meal (on a date) as X and Y axis. I think these two things are related somehow. Perhaps, pretty girls never needed to pay for expensive meals.

It is even harder to find a pretty girl who is willing to go to food court with you.

Prudence, a super capable and attractive girl who is fluent with many languages (she even got her MBA in Japan) told me she is about heading to food court alone amazed me a bit. I guess I don't know her that well before although we are old friends. As we live fairly close, I took her to my favorite restaurant at Shek O. My very own version of fine dining.

Guess what the duckling is made of?

I like this restaurant very much because of their gigantic clams. I already miss that dish while writing this. And the best thing is the unbeatable price. Only HK$48!

The duckling is made of salt! The waiter told us, a foreign lady spat it out after trying to eat it. I don't understand why they make garnish out of salt. Probably they enjoy seeing customers' reactions.

Although Prudence spends half of her time in the air, she is very down to earth. Lucky you Richard! Long live LV, long live Gucci. Amen

Today's special

Home improvement never ends.

Bought a new tank for my little Australian Blue Crayfish (freshwater lobster), I hope it likes my new kitchen arrangement.

Isn't it handsome? I like to play fencing with this little guy, it can even do somersaults.

Fencing time, cling cling cling! I win of course.
