Hairpin turn
Usually, no one makes a u-turn here, people either go uphill or downhill.
I was intrigued by the skid marks left at the roundabout this morning. Such peaceful roundabout turned into a hairpin turn for racing at late night. Those Ferraris must have changed their racetrack after that big accident week ago. |

Japanese style
My Japanese friend Yama asked me to design a logo and advertisement for his new violin shop, he wanted something a mixture of Chinese and Japanese. He illustrated his idea on a piece of paper.
I watch a lot of the TV program Miami Ink, it is about the happenings in a tattoo shop. I enjoyed the show a lot, those tattoo artists can design tattoos in a great variety of styles. I will go to their shop for sure if I want a tattoo. I won't deliver things that I am not completely happy with, even for free. So at the end, even people don't get something great, I can guarantee they won't get something bad... at the very least. So this time, I need to design in Japanese/Chinese style. With minimal instructions, I finally settled with this design. A double bass in form of Chinese or Japanese paintings which also resembles Japanese waves. My friend is happy and I am glad that not even one thing is being altered. I don't wanna label myself as a designer, I just like creating different things from time to time. |

Fine dining
It is hard to find a girl who doesnt like fine dining in Hong Kong... Nothing wrong of course, I like Lamborghinis also. However, I think I can plot a graph with prettiness (assessed by themselves) and money spent per meal (on a date) as X and Y axis. I think these two things are related somehow. Perhaps, pretty girls never needed to pay for expensive meals.
It is even harder to find a pretty girl who is willing to go to food court with you. Prudence, a super capable and attractive girl who is fluent with many languages (she even got her MBA in Japan) told me she is about heading to food court alone amazed me a bit. I guess I don't know her that well before although we are old friends. As we live fairly close, I took her to my favorite restaurant at Shek O. My very own version of fine dining. Guess what the duckling is made of? ![]() I like this restaurant very much because of their gigantic clams. I already miss that dish while writing this. And the best thing is the unbeatable price. Only HK$48! The duckling is made of salt! The waiter told us, a foreign lady spat it out after trying to eat it. I don't understand why they make garnish out of salt. Probably they enjoy seeing customers' reactions. Although Prudence spends half of her time in the air, she is very down to earth. Lucky you Richard! Long live LV, long live Gucci. Amen |

24-hr breakfast
I like the concept of 24-hr breakfast. Living in Hong Kong but in a different time zone is painful. I don't really know when is my breakfast when is my dinner. I just eat when I wanna eat.
At 4am, instead of going to one of those 24-hr McDonald's, I went to a place called The Flying Pan in Wanchai which they offer 24-hr breakfast. Being surrounded by bars and nightclubs, it was a bit surprising that I was the only customer there. I ordered egg benedict with grilled ham, orange juice, and grilled tomato and fresh fruits as side dishes. Give it a try when you find yourself being tired of Thai poultry nearby. See their trademark egg yolk, hungry? HK$66 (service charge included) |

Mini filming
Bumped into my neighbor Miniman, he was being interviewed by a web magazine as there is a coming event in Thailand called Mini Phenomenon 2007. Mini owners there will use their Mini Coopers to form the world's largest car mosaic in form of words "Long Live The King" to celebrate their king's birthday.
Now I know Miniman is called Hung Chai, I always see him fixing his Mini. We chatted a couple of times though. Funny that they were in need of a new Mini Cooper for filming, so I let them film my car (instead of my face). |

Ghost and infrared
During the Chinese ghost month, some people will burn paper offerings near their home to entertain the spirits nearby.
I tried to use my camera's infrared function to see if I can capture any ghost. The conclusion is: Either ghosts can't be captured by infrared or they don't like the offerings. |

Airbus A380
As I am living in U.S. time zone and was still awake at 5am, I decided to go take a look at the Airbus A380 in the morning as she flies over the Victoria Harbour.
I picked up my Voigtlander Bessa L camera along with the 15mm and went to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Sadly at 6 something in the morning, I found convenience stores no longer selling films nowadays. Fortunately, I managed to get a roll at the third store after some walking. Though digital cameras are super convenient to use, I still love to crank the film advance sometimes. over Victoria Harbour Kowloon side International Finance Centre Surprisingly, I found a large grouper swiming in Victoria Harbour! nearly two feet long. The A380 is super quiet even flying so low, well done Airbus! I was the first one arrived, but as Hong Kong has a huge supply of nosy people, I wasn't the only one there of course. |
