Michael Rabin

Michael Rabin was a tragic figure in the violin history.

He was a genius violinist, his premature death at 35 was a great loss to the world.

Here is his del Gesu. I played a while with this gorgeous violin today.

I hope my playing isn't an insult to his violin. :-P

Free

Since I don't have a car here, I need to walk a long way(at least 20mins) if I want to go shopping.

Fortunately, Trax within the downtown area is free, it saves me a bit of walking.

Not many things in life are free.

Cook

Mari offers to cook for us today.

It is so nice to have Korean food here, American food is somehow too oily.

Fabulous

My idol violinist Gil Shaham played my most beloved violin concerto, the Beethoven violin concerto, with Utah Symphony tonight.

Gil is my most favorite living classical violinist, his interpretation is always refreshing. Years ago, I brought a stack of CDs for him to autograph, I told him I was waiting for his Beethoven and Bach. He even played the Bach Sarabande and Double as encore. What more could I ask for?

To attract audience's attention, many musicians will turn music into virtuoso works. Gil made both Beethoven and Bach sounded like music from heaven. Simply fabulous.

Don't miss his Paganini for Two, it is a perfect disc.

Chill

It is getting a bit cold in Salt Lake City now, there's snow this morning too.

Bridge

I tried so hard to carve a violin bridge for my guitar shaped violin from a piece of wood.

I hope I can finish it before I leave.

Maniac

I found this guy sitting in front of a lingerie shop for a long time.

While I was wondering whether he is a maniac, he stood up and walked into the shop.

Autumn

I was here during winter and summer.

But I think autumn is the nicest season here.

The colours of the leaves paint the scenery beautifully.

Flight

To me, long distance flight is a torture.

I can recognize some flight attendants already.

This is my third time in Salt Lake City this year. Some how I feel home here.
