Checked with the BMW salesman, my bumble bee Mini is now in the middle of the sea.

Scheduled to land HK on 8 Nov.

Some people who know me might think a 4-door sedan suit me more. They just don't understand why I chose a Mini. The reason is:

Portrait II
 
Added a new section Portrait II.

Those pictures were taken by a Nikon F-4S with 17mm lens and Fujicolor 400.

The place was a bit dark, slow shutter speed was needed (hand-held at 1/4 to 1/15 sec., ambient light). Thus, some photos are a bit blurry.

I am a bit sad to know about the death of the actor, Richard Harris, who played Professor Dumbledore in the Harry Potter movies.

Scuba dive is fun and exciting, I met a shark underwater!

The shark was so quick, it went away before I managed to click the shutter.

Mutter's Beethoven
 
This is a new Mutter CD.

After listening for a few seconds, I found there are some unusual hisses/noises. I turned the CD box around immediately and as expected, I found that it is a live recording. Fine.

You can tell from this CD that Mutter's technique is more secure than before. Especially what we are talking now is a live recording. She displayed great intensity in some passages, bold and certain. However, Mutter enjoyed too much freedom in tempo which didn't pay respect to the classical form of the concerto. Although it is musically dramatic, a "too" romantic approach will never be an appropriate way to play a classical piece. Beethoven violin concerto is not a virtuoso piece. One needs to have a certain level of humility in order to play Beethoven's music well. I have a feeling that Mutter is playing for the future. I am sure I will revisit this recording later. It is not my cup of tea at the moment.

The Gay Singers
 
This group is quite entertaining, they use their voices to mimic different kinds of musical instrument.

I like their Chinese name 姬聲雅士 very much too, a good name which sounds similar to the English one.

They are going to have two concerts in November, ticket prices are reasonable, $100 and $70.

It is a system upgrade, so you won't notice any difference.
